Loki made bad decisions sometimes. He was used to it, it kept life interesting, but sometimes he just Did Something and figured out why later. Or figured out how to get out of it later. Normally these whims were small things, his bigger plots and bigger decisions were more carefully planned.

This - breaking into Stark's room - was one of those whims, and almost certainly a bad idea. Certainly there was nothing in it for him either way. The lock wasn't hideously difficult to get around, and some layering of illusions had allowed him to open and close the door without anyone the wiser. He didn't bother to shapeshift out of kitten form, because on the off chance he was caught, who'd see a cat and think 'literal cat burglar'?

He and Stark had arrived on the same day, it was possible that meant something. And even on limited exposure, Loki was sure Stark was the type to start solving a problem as soon as it fell in front of him. Perhaps there would be something written down or scribbled on a wall or... something.
